Response to Fruitvale Review

Sergio had a similar response to Fruitvale Station that a lot of us had: shock and anger. In Sergio's Fruitvale response, he comments on how this film brings light to the injustices that people of color still face in the US. He reflects over his emotional experience while watching the film, a lot of emotions that I felt while watching, too. I agree that this movie allows the audience to really see a story that defines and demonstrates how white privilege continues to be systematically instilled in our society.

Sergio describes how powerful the story of Oscar Grant is. Oscar Grant was a real person, and what happened to him has happened (and continues) to millions of African American males in the United States. The power of the medium is truly remarkable. I applaud the director, Ryan Coogler, for successfully portraying a message of injustice in our country, using film as the medium.
